new premises photo shoot
August 4th, 2014

We’ve had the extremely talented photographer Nigel Ord-Smith in to take some photos of our newly refurbished location and a sample of dishes. Nigel has captured the heart and soul of Ascough’s; we are so pleased we thought we would share a video of our photo shoot. We cannot recommend his work enough – truly brilliant. Thank you Nigel  Click rhe link below to watch the video.

Staying at new premises
March 18th, 2014

Closure Period –

Further Refurbishments Planned

Moving to the new premises on St Mary’s Road has provided Ascough’s with a larger kitchen, more storage and more restaurant space and we are finding operating from these premises much easier and have therefore decided to stay. We loved our time at the old premises, and we are thankful for the 8 ½ years we spent building our business there however the small kitchen and non existent storage always hindered our operations and prevented us from introducing new ideas with food and wine that we hope to be able to do in the future now that we have a larger kitchen and bar area and the added advantage of the lounge.

We are aware that the new premises do not have the same atmosphere and quirkiness that our old grade 2 listed building had and unfortunately we were restricted to what was achievable in the 12 days we had to turn the restaurant around. There simply wasn’t enough time or finance to implement all of our ideas. Therefore we will be closing for the 1st 3 weeks of June to improve upon the atmosphere and dining environment.

Here is what we are planning on doing. We will be separating the large room down into cosier areas using partitioning walls and booths together with sound proofing insulation and other sound proofing methods to reduce the noise and echo. We will be removing the redundant stair case, incorporating softer seating, wallpapered and fabricated walls, a new overlooking glass balustrade, new flooring throughout and new tables and soft chairs which we hope will all improve the overall dining experience.

We are extremely grateful for all the support we have received since the fire and we hope you will enjoy the finished article when all of our works are complete. We thank you for bearing with us in the interim period while we continue to make it our own.
