Ascough’s Restaurant opened its doors in August 2005, created by husband and wife Chris and Abby Ascough with a simple aim: to bring stylish, relaxed dining to the heart of Market Harborough.
What started as a shared dream has become a much-loved local favourite known for exceptional service, delicious food, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Set across two beautifully designed floors, our 80 cover restaurant offers both intimacy and elegance, whether you’re joining us for a casual lunch, a special evening out or even an intimate wedding breakfast.
Located just a short walk from several convenient car parks, we also offer full disabled access to ensure all our guests feel at home.

Local Quality
At Ascough’s, we take pride in serving contemporary dishes crafted with care, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to quality. Our menus are built around responsibly sourced ingredients, with a strong focus on local suppliers we know and trust including Joseph Morris Butchers, Collins Fresh Produce, Waistcoat Wines, and Saxby’s Cider.
Every element of our food is prepared on-site, from freshly baked bread and hand-crafted biscuits to our homemade ice creams and sorbets. We’re also proud to offer something truly unique: our own Ascough’s Gin, distilled with Mediterranean botanicals.
Our set lunch and evening menus offer a diverse selection of meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes designed to delight the palate without stretching the budget. For those with specific dietary preferences, we also offer a dedicated Vegan Menu and Gluten Free dishes as well as an Early Bird Menu for guests looking for a lighter dining experience.
For something truly special, our Tasting Menu with optional Wine Pairings provides an opportunity to indulge in a carefully curated gourmet experience. Menus are updated monthly, giving our guests a reason to return time and again.

A note on young diners
At Ascough’s, we aim to provide a calm and comfortable environment for all our guests to enjoy. Due to the layout and limited space within the restaurant, we are unfortunately unable to accommodate children under the age of 5, including infants in prams or car seats. We also do not offer highchairs, changing facilities, or a children’s menu.
As a family-run restaurant with four children of our own, we completely understand the joys and challenges of dining out with little ones. This policy simply reflects the constraints of our space and our desire to ensure the best possible experience for everyone dining with us.
